The Comfort Zone


The Comfort Zone
 
I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I couldn’t fail.
The same four walls of busy work were really more like jail.
 
I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before,
But I stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.
 
I said ‘it didn’t matter’ that I wasn’t doing much.
I said I didn’t care for things like diamonds, furs and such.
 
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside my zone.
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.
 
I couldn’t let my life go by, just watching others win.
So I held my breath and stepped outside to let the change begin.
 
I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before
I kissed my comfort zone “goodbye” and closed and locked the door.
 
If you are in a comfort zone and afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners too, were one time filled with doubt.
 
So take the step, get started, and then with joy you’ll shout:
“I’ve learned my lesson now – when in doubt I will reach out!
 
I’ll do the things I felt were hard, and make my dreams my own.
And never again will I be kept prisoner inside a comfort zone.”

Protect Your Health; Project Your Wealth For 2015

Get your mind thinking about success in 2015. Begin with a personal inventory of YOUR 2014. Did you “get ‘er done?” No matter…accomplish your new goals with “clear strategic intentions”. “Develop daily, weekly and monthly goals, then and only then, will you reach your long-term goals and achieve your WHY’, Ed tells us.

Paulette will be adding the: 10 things you can do in order to establish effective goals, to the blogspot. Review them. Copy them. And DO them. She and Ed review them for us right here. Paulette ends with a provocative and motivational poem about “getting out of your comfort zone.”

How To Set Goals

WRITE THEM DOWN
 
If it is not in writing, it is not a goal.  Write with your own hand (no typing.!) Science: your hand writing down your goals in the “I will” tense, signals it to act to fulfillment.  Writing crystallizes thought and thought crystallizes action.

MAKE THEM REALISTIC & BELIEVABLE
If you don’t believe you can achieve it - you won’t pay the price necessary to reach it.  GUIDELINE: Aim high – not out-of-sight, but just out-of-reach.
 
 
MAKE THEM PAINFULLY SPECIFIC AND MEASURABLE
“A goal is a dream with a deadline.” Guideline: If you can’t quantify your goal – with numbers and dates – it isn’t specific enough. 

 
BREAK LONG-RANGE GOALS INTO SHORT-TERM DEADLINES
Short-term goals (daily, weekly, monthly) Mid-term goals (by June 30th) Long-term (by the end of the year)
“Divide-and-conquer” - immediate victories keep momentum/commitment level high.
 
ANCHOR THEM TO A STRONG WHY
If your “why” is strong enough the “how” figures itself out. What deep-rooted, in-your-gut reasons do you have for wanting this to happen?  

IDENTIFY POSSIBLE OBSTACLES & A PLAN TO GET AROUND THEM
Plan ahead. Develop the “bring-it-on” mentality.  When life pushes and resists – push back. 

 
IDENTIFY WHO YOU WILL NEED TO WORK WITH
No one is an island.  Mavericks will not win here.  Mission statement is designed for teamwork.  Assemble your team.

DEVELOP AN ACTION PLAN

Recipe for White Chocolate Cranberry Popcorn - YUM

1 Bag Simply Fit Microwave Popcorn [either flavor]
3 oz. white chocolate
1/4 cup dried cranberries

  1. Pop Simply Fit Microwave Popcorn.
  2. Spread on large cookie sheet.
  3. Place white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl - microwave 40 seconds.  Stir. Repeat until chocolate is fully melted.
  4. Using a spoon, drizzle thick stripes of melted white chocolate over popcorn.
  5. Sprinkle dried cranberries on top of popcorn.
  6. Let sit for 30 minutes to allow chocolate to set. 
Place in a serving dish or divide into small gift bags for neighbors and friends.

Products are the Business: Today’s products segment is quite unique. Instead of a product, Paulette shares some answers wonder about, after a new product is launched, how is it received? Paulette tells us the reasons and results of many of the new products introduced in 2014, in a recap of some comments from Scott Hollander at the recent ELC meeting. Melaleuca is keeping its’ product line fresh, relevant and contemporary and the results prove it.

$1 memberships have been extended through Halloween and your October enrollments can use them through the end of November. A great way to get your new business builders off to a great start.

The Business Development segment is a review of some of the perspectives from the recent ELC meeting (largest in 29 years) in Arizona and Ed and Paulette share them right here. Things like: the development of leadership is a long term proposition, you don’t really have their WHY, until there’s a tear in their eye, learn to approach with a “helping” mindset, the importance of their why AND yours, Belief, success and knowledge can unlock your own reticence. Improving Your Memory And Improving Your Business.

Products are the Business: Paulette relates an experience with a referral about the Melaleuca memory and brain support product, Unforgetables. Her referral was suffering from “brain fog” and the story about it and the product background that Paulette tells is, well, …unforgettable.

She had a slow start until she made one simple change that, she says, can’t be overestimated. She “wrote” down her business hours so she and all around her would be reminded of them everyday. Wendy also tells us, that she develops her business the same way that Cisco Holland has told us so many times, she “makes her living; while she lives her life”. That’s how Wendy does it. Everywhere she goes and everyone she meets are potential customers. How’s it going? Wendy is currently a Director V and, she says, she WILL be a Senior Director by Convention 2015. Ed comments that Wendy’s commitment to those business hours made the difference between her SAYING she was in the business and her BEING in the business. Wendy’s is a fascinating success story and one that all of us can “duplicate”, so you should listen.

Paulette opens today’s call with minutes of conversation to diffuse any panic there is out there about Ebola. If you have any misgivings or misconceptions or no conceptions at all, you will want to listen to her analysis.

Scott Plans The Products That Make Our Business Plans Productive.

There is no Products are the Business segment today, because our very special guest is the guru of Melaleuca products and many will be discussed in his dialogue.

Incentives for this month are winding down, so if you are on the Pacesetter reset, finish strong by helping those reach Director, Remember, you still have that $1 membership available ‘til August 31, that should help you even if you are not on your reset program. Eddie is traveling today so we are joined by our third “All-Star” guest in as many weeks, Scott Hollander. Scott is the Chief Marketing Officer at Melaleuca. Now you know why there is no product of the week, with Scott’s extensive product knowledge, he is the product of the week.

Seriously, Scott shares some wonderful insights and surprising data on our all-new Elevate line of products which was targeted to attract younger people to Melaleuca’s family of customers and business builders. Scott tells us that Melaleuca has many more plans to develop products that will attract younger enrollments while not losing focus on our existing loyal customer base.

Scott goes on to share more specifics, like the incredible performance of our Learn to Earn program and how it has reduced attrition to nearly non-existent levels, how it has broadened product trial dramatically, and increased average order volume by double digit percentages.

“Believe it or not, Scott says, they have been viewed over 2 million times since their introduction.” Paulette points out that, when people know more about WHY the product they are using is working so well for them, they are more apt to be loyal and tell others about it. McKay Christensen: “Peak Performance and Performing At Your Peak”

Paulette is traveling, so she won’t be joining us. In her absence, we are extremely fortunate to be joined by Melaleuca President, McKay Christensen.

Products are the Business: Our guest, McKay, tells us about a product that has become his favorite, since it was introduced at Convention 2014, Peak Performance Pack. McKay gives us lots of facts and plenty of insight into this wonderful new product, which works for those who exercise vigorously, moderately or even seldom. Interesting stuff.

Our business development segment, today, focuses on a “quality” strategy session and its importance to developing a healthy business. Do you know all of the necessary elements? McKay begins with an analogy of Tesla Motors, a business that stumbled in its first year, only to recognize the need for a change, and change it did. Now it is the most highly rated (Consumer Reports and J.D. Power) automobile made anywhere.

Ed and McKay talk candidly about the thing that is missing, the thing that needs to change, in most of our Melaleuca businesses, a consistent and quality 48-hour strategy session (APD), after the homework lesson (both are available, automatically on the MGGG system). Products are the Business: Today’s product is Melaleuca’s entry into the 1.2 billion dollar market that is adolescent and adult acne products. Ours is called Clarity. The Clarity “system” is a summer special at $21.99 for the five products, a savings of $5. There was an incredible amount of positive feedback about last week’s simulcast that was hosted by Cisco Holland, titled “Starting Your New Leaders With MGGG”. “There will, Paulette says, be more of them in the future.”

You still must develop your Director by August 31st, but this extension will allow you to focus on that DI in August. Great news. Want more great news? Ed tells us how important a good August is in launching us into the best Melaleuca months of the year, September, October and November. “You can’t wait ‘till then, he tells us, you have to lay the groundwork in August.”

Finally, Paulette encourages everyone to review “On the Green Scene” and find out more about Active and Passive attention. It will give you insight about how to manage yourself and your time as a resource to your team and your business.
